This flute is a copy of one either made or played by a Mr. Tassi. Probably mid-18th century. Read about the mystery here. >>
Maker: Simon Polak (the Netherlands)
My instrument: Blackwood, A=392 Hz
I had been eyeing the Tassi for about 10 years before I finally bought one in 2010. I am still breaking it in, but so far it proves to be as rich and nuanced as it felt when I first tried one many years ago. The original Tassi, on which this copy is based, is pitched at about A= 400 Hz. It could be suitable for French music, which is currently played at a standardized A=392 Hz, but it could also work well with music from the low-pitch-loving court of Friedrich der Große.
